It took me ten months to understand the benefits of co-op. Am I just a slow student or are the benefits a little more subtle than you might think? The obvious ones come to mind right away:
1. Employers recognize and value the term “co-op”.
2. The experience you gain is directly related to your chosen career field.
3. You are applying on job postings no one else can see.
4. You create an extensive network of valuable contacts.

Hi everyone!
So my name is Amy and I am entering my second year at TRU in the BBA program. I applied and was accepted into co-op last September 2008 and began my work term this past May. With a unique twist, I am a co-op student working in the co-op office and it is incredible to see what goes on behind the scenes. (more…)
